My all-time-favorite genre of movie is colonial (or neo-colonial) love story. I found The Lover on Netflix. It’s about an affair between a Chinese aristocrat and a young French colonial in 1920’s Vietnam. The only thing I fell in love with was the girl’s oversized pink fedora. I’ve been searching for one of my own ever since.
On an unrelated note, star crossed love is totally overrated.
